The buzzing 300-400cc motorcycle segment in India continues to heat up as August 2025 brings two key developments: a major update to the Yezdi Roadster, and the highly anticipated debut of the all-new Triumph Thruxton 400. With mid-range bikes growing rapidly in popularity, these launches represent a battle between a seasoned retro cruiser and a fresh café racer with modern underpinnings.

Triumph Thruxton 400: The New Café Racer on the Block
Triumph’s Thruxton 400 is the latest addition to the British brand’s accessible 400cc lineup, following the success of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. Set to be officially unveiled on August 6, with first ride reviews expected on August 11, the Thruxton 400 brings a retro café racer design wrapped around performance-ready hardware.
Under the tank, it’s powered by the familiar 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, delivering 40hp and 37.5Nm of torque. The six-speed gearbox is equipped with a slipper clutch, and the bike features ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS, and traction control – safety and tech features borrowed from the Speed 400.
Its chassis and suspension setup are also expected to be shared with the Speed 400, ensuring nimble handling while maintaining a premium ride quality.
Yezdi Roadster: A Classic Cruiser Gets Modern Tweaks
On the other side, Yezdi—known for its nostalgic appeal—has refreshed the Roadster to stay relevant in this crowded segment. The updated Roadster maintains its cruiser DNA with a laid-back stance and classic styling, but now brings minor refinements to improve ride comfort, performance, and visual appeal.
While technical specs remain under wraps, it’s expected that Yezdi has focused on tweaking the ergonomics, ride quality, and possibly even the engine tune to keep pace with its newer rivals. The Roadster already comes with features like dual-channel ABS, a digi-analogue instrument cluster, and a torquey 334cc engine.
Triumph Thruxton 400 vs Yezdi Roadster: Style or Substance?
This face-off is a tale of two philosophies. The Thruxton 400 is a tech-packed modern café racer wrapped in a retro body, designed to appeal to performance enthusiasts who also crave style. On the other hand, the Yezdi Roadster continues to serve riders who prefer classic cruiser vibes, timeless design, and a more laid-back riding posture.
If you’re after tech, agility, and a touch of British class, the Thruxton 400 is your ride. But if heritage, comfort, and old-school charm speak to your soul, the updated Yezdi Roadster might be your perfect companion.
