Dehradun:
Severe overnight rainfall has triggered flash floods in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, leading to widespread destruction and tragic loss of life. A heart-wrenching video has surfaced, showing a group of labourers being swept away by the raging Tons River. According to initial reports, at least six labourers are feared dead.
The viral footage shows around 10 men stranded on a tractor stuck mid-river. The men can be seen waving desperately and shouting for help as onlookers on the riverbank try to devise a rescue plan. Within moments, the powerful current overturns the tractor, sweeping all the men downstream. People on the shore are seen screaming and running helplessly as the incident unfolds.

Preliminary information suggests that the victims were engaged in mining activities, though officials are still investigating how they ended up trapped in the middle of the river.
The incessant downpour has caused significant damage across Dehradun, Mussoorie, and Mal Devta. Roads have been washed away, homes damaged, and a key bridge near Law College in Dehradun’s Prem Nagar area has collapsed. Authorities have launched large-scale rescue operations, successfully evacuating nearly 400 residents from flood-affected areas.
The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation. The Centre has assured full support for relief and rescue operations.
