Mahindra’s best-selling SUV, the XUV700, is reportedly set for a major facelift — and early reports indicate it might debut with a completely new name. According to information shared on Team-BHP, the refreshed model could be introduced as the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Name change hinted by new trademark filing
Speculation about the new branding began after Mahindra filed a trademark for the term XUV 7XO in January 2024. The trademark has already been approved, increasing expectations that the updated SUV will follow the same renaming strategy seen with the XUV300 facelift, which was reintroduced as the XUV 3XO earlier this year. If Mahindra continues the pattern, the XUV700 facelift may arrive with this new badge.
Fresh exterior design with updated front fascia
Multiple spy shots of the test mule have revealed significant changes to the SUV’s design. The facelift is expected to feature a new grille, revised bumper, and modern twin-pod LED headlamps. The updated lighting elements should provide a sharper, more contemporary look.
Triple-screen dashboard and premium interior upgrade
Inside, the SUV is likely to receive one of the biggest updates. Reports suggest a redesigned cabin with new door panels, a refreshed dashboard, and a triple-screen layout inspired by the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9e. Additionally, Mahindra is expected to offer a Harman Kardon premium audio system, elevating the overall in-car experience.
No major changes expected to powertrain
Despite major cosmetic and feature enhancements, the mechanical setup is expected to remain unchanged. The SUV will likely continue with Mahindra’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines, paired with familiar 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
Production timeline and discontinuation of current model
As per the latest reports, production of the facelifted model is likely to commence next month. Mahindra is also reportedly planning to phase out the current-generation XUV700 by November 2025, paving the way for the updated XUV 7XO.
