OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Go in India: Rs. 399 Plan with 10x More Features

OpenAI has officially introduced a new subscription plan for Indian users, named ChatGPT Go, priced at Rs. 399 per month. The plan promises users enhanced access to GPT-5, along with expanded features including advanced image generation, document analysis, and extended memory.

Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT, announced the launch on X, highlighting that Go subscribers will benefit from “10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared to the free version.”

According to OpenAI’s official blog, these limits may adjust based on system performance to ensure a smooth experience for all users. Starting today, users can easily upgrade by logging into ChatGPT, clicking their profile icon, and selecting “Upgrade Plan”, after which they can pay via UPI or credit card.

Turley emphasized that affordability was a major request from users, stating, “Our goal has always been to make ChatGPT more affordable.”

India plays a key role in OpenAI’s growth. CEO Sam Altman previously noted during his India tour in February that the country is the second-largest market for ChatGPT, with its user base tripling in just one year. Meanwhile, rival Perplexity AI, led by Aravind Srinivas, has been expanding in India through a partnership with Airtel, offering 360 million subscribers a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription.

OpenAI confirmed that the ChatGPT Go plan will roll out to more regions in the future, signaling a broader global expansion strategy.
