BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of German automaker BMW, is gearing up to launch its much-awaited F 450 GS, an affordable yet premium adventure motorcycle. Initially showcased at the EICMA 2024 in Italy, the bike has since been spotted in various test mules across India and overseas. Now, leaked patent images give us the clearest look yet at the upcoming ADV’s final production version.

Design Highlights: Adventure with a Premium Touch
Though slightly different from the concept shown at EICMA, the F 450 GS still retains the BMW Motorrad ADV DNA. The design includes:
- Twin-barrel LED headlights with an aggressive front fascia
- Tall windscreen and sculpted fuel tank
- Extended radiator shrouds and sharp front beak
- Raised handlebar for better ergonomics
- Mid-mounted footpegs, adjustable levers, and a split-seat setup
- High rear seat for pillion comfort
While the production model drops the exposed sub-frame seen in the concept, it borrows several visual cues from the larger and more expensive BMW R 1300 GS, giving it a rugged-yet-refined ADV stance.
Features & Hardware: Packed with Tech
BMW is equipping the F 450 GS with a modern feature set aimed at urban and trail riders alike:
- Full LED lighting system including headlamp, indicators, and taillamp
- TFT color instrument console with Bluetooth support
- Switchable dual-channel ABS, traction control, and multiple ride modes
Mechanically, the bike is built on a trellis frame with bolt-on subframe. It features:
- USD front forks and a rear monoshock
- 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels (tubeless)
- Disc brakes on both ends for optimum stopping power
Engine & Performance: Developed with TVS
Under the tank, the F 450 GS houses a 450cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, co-developed with Indian bike maker TVS. Key performance figures include:
- 48 bhp of power
- 45 Nm of peak torque
- 6-speed gearbox for smooth transmission
- Slightly heavier than its concept version which weighed around 170 kg
Expected Launch & Rivals in India
Positioned as BMW’s new entry-level adventure tourer, the F 450 GS is expected to replace the G 310 R. In India, its main competitors include:
- Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
- Honda NX500
- CFMoto 450 MT
With an expected starting price of around ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom), the F 450 GS is set to offer a premium alternative in the mid-range ADV segment.
